BJP candidates list for 2024 Lok Sabha elections

Bhartiya Janata Party on 29 February organise a party meeting at Prime Minister’s residence to finalise 100 new candidate names for lok sabha elections 2024. As Lok Sabha elections come knocking on the door in the month of may, BJP held a late night meeting that lasted for about 4 hours to prepare for the same. The meeting took place at PM’s residence in Delhi.

Agenda of the meeting to discuss ‘weak’ and ‘strong seats’, review recommendations made by state committees and finalise 2024 Lok Sabha elections candidates list. For strong seats it is expected to post experienced and famous faces. For weak seats that it lost in 2019 elections, it is expected to cancel tickets and replace. The focus will be on introducing high profile candidates like PM Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda and Rajnath Singh himself etc.

Finally today the list of 195 candidates is released.

This year special attention is on states like UP, MP, Gujarat, Assam, Kerala, Telangana, West Bengal etc. Party want to give ticket to fresh faces over those who have won election atleast twice or didn’t perform well in previous elections.

Procedure for selection of candidates:

  1. Taking public feedback about the MP of their constituency. Submit it on ‘NaMo app’
  2. MPs of each states were asked to bring records of their work in 2 years.
  3. Survey agencies were employed in to give a report on each constituency.
  4. State level committees reviewed the reports and prepared a list of prospective candidates for 2024 elections.
  5. Central Election Committee (CEC) led by Narendra Modi finally discussed each name recommended by state committees and prepare final list of.

Highlights BJP candidates list 2024

  1. Existing union ministers who got re-selected are Rajnath Singh(Lucknow), Amit Shah (Gandhi Nagar), Smriti Irani(Amethi), Jyotiraj Scindia (Guna) etc.
  2. People who get relief from their duties are Gautam Gambhir, Ramesh Bidhuri, Parvesh Verma etc.
  3. Fresh faces in the BJP candidates list 2024 include Bansuri Swaraj (daughter of Late Sushma Swaraj) from New Delhi, Praveen Khandelwal from Chandni Chowk, Ramvir Singh from South Delhi, Kamaljeet Sehrawat from West Delhi.
