Admission to the Polytechnic program is merit-based and does not require an entrance examination. Candidates are shortlist through a merit list and counselling process. Eligibility for Admissions 

The candidates who wish to apply for Polytechnic courses from Maharashtra should fulfil the following eligibility criteria enlisted by the admission conducting body.

  1. Basic eligibility is candidates with Maharashtra Domicile and belonging to SC/ST/OBC or any other minority community (Minority quota seats) and those who hold Indian Nationality.

A The candidate must have passed class 8, 9, and 10 from a recognized institute with a minimum aggregate of 35% For direct admission to the second year, the candidate must have passed class 12 in the relevant stream. The place for passing the qualifying exam must come under the jurisdiction of one’s district area.

D The candidates do not fall under Type A, Type B, or Type C but have a father or mother as an employee or retired employee of the Government of Maharashtra or Government of Maharashtra Undertakings. The place of the last government post must come under the jurisdiction of one’s district area.
E The candidate must have passed classes 8, 9, and 10 from a recognized institute located under the Maharashtra border with fluency in the Marathi language. The candidates will be considered as an outsider from the home district or for the state-level seats.

Merit preparation process for Poly DTE Diploma Admission 2024

Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) issues a merit list for admission to Maharashtra Polytechnic. The candidates eligible for the counselling process are shortlisted in the merit list. The merit list for admission to Maharashtra Polytechnic on the basis following factors:

  1. Initial Merit number Assignment stage, the merit number assignment is on the basis eligibility of   candidates with the help of data they fill.
  2. Change of marks takes place due to the verification stage.
  3. Calculate percentage of qualifying marks for the candidates gets calculated while rounding off the percentage to the nearest integer. If the total marks for any qualifying subject are other than 100, then the marks considered out of 100 and the fraction obtained will be rounded off. If marks obtained in the HSC level of the candidate are in grades, then the candidate will have to submit the grade conversion by the respective board authority at the time of application.
  4. If the candidate take a re-appear exam, then marks of latest exam is considered.
  5. If more than one candidate tie i.e scores the same marks, then the candidate with higher marks in Mathematics gets preference.
  6. Even if the candidates score the same marks in Mathematics, then the candidate with a higher score in Science gets preference.
  7. If the scores are still same, then the candidate with a higher English score gets preference.
  • If the same marks are reported between them, then the candidate with a score in HSC gets preference.
  • If still, tie does not break, then the candidate passed with Minimum Competency Vocational Course in HSC gets preference
